Everything you need to know

  • We design and install renewable energy systems for a wide range of clients, including residential homeowners, commercial businesses, resorts and large hospitality operations, private islands and remote, off-grid properties, and public and private utility and energy infrastructure providers.

Every system is custom-designed around each client's energy usage, resilience objectives, and long-term sustainability goals — and engineered for the specific demands of the Caribbean: saline coastal conditions, hurricane standards, and TCI's zero-export regulatory framework.

  • Solar panels typically last 20–25 years. While there is a marginal decrease in efficiency over time, they continue producing electricity well beyond that period. Our panels come with long-term performance warranties.

  • Yes, we offer comprehensive operations and maintenance services designed to protect system performance, extend equipment life, and give clients complete peace of mind. We serve as the single point of contact for all warranty matters, identifying faults, raising and managing claims with manufacturers, and attending site for all warranty-related visits. Labour for warranty visits is included in operations and maintenance plans.

For TCI's saline coastal and hurricane-exposed environment, proactive maintenance is especially important. All of our energy systems are engineered and maintained to the highest standards for long-term performance in demanding Caribbean conditions.

  • All of our systems are engineered for resilience, designed to withstand corrosive saline environments, heavy winds, and the unique challenges of island living. Most importantly, when the grid goes out, your power stays on.

  • Yes, all Renu Energy solar installations include access to a monitoring portal and app, allowing you to have complete visibility of your energy production and usage.

  • Most residential systems are installed within a few days once permits and approvals are complete; larger commercial or resort projects may take several weeks. Our team manages the entire process—from design and permitting to installation and final testing—so you have a seamless, stress-free experience.

  • The payback period is 3-4 years for solar-only systems and 4-6 years for solar-plus-storage, offering some of the shortest periods on the island.

  • There are several key benefits of adding battery storage to your solar system: daylight energy harvesting; back-up power during grid outages (saving the costs of installing a generator); and cleaner, better quality power.

  • Battery energy storage systems (BESS) provide power during outages, grid instability, and peak demand periods, improving resilience and energy independence across applications. When integrated with solar generation, battery systems can sustain critical loads for extended periods while reducing reliance on the utility grid and fuel-based backup. In TCI's zero-export environment, they also maximise onsite solar utilisation by storing excess energy that would otherwise be curtailed. Beyond backup, batteries also help improve solar self-consumption, cut generator runtime and fuel costs, stabilise energy expenses, and support power quality and grid resiliency.

  • Yes, solar and battery systems can significantly reduce operating costs, particularly in TCI, by cutting electricity expenses, peak demand charges, fuel consumption, and generator operating hours. The typical payback period for a commercial solar-plus-storage system in TCI is 3-4 years, with significant savings from day one. Energy optimisation is especially valuable for hospitality properties, commercial operations, and energy-intensive facilities throughout the Caribbean.

  • All of our energy systems include mobile and web-based monitoring platforms, allowing customers to view and manage their energy in real time. Depending on the system and equipment, customers can monitor solar production and battery charge levels; track home or facility energy usage and savings; monitor EV charging and energy flows; receive instant alerts for outages, faults, or performance drops; and manage backup power settings and remotely control system functions. The Tesla app provides a unified interface for solar, battery, EV charging, and grid interaction from a single screen. Tesla Storm Watch automatically pre-charges batteries ahead of anticipated severe weather or grid outages.

  • With a solar-plus-storage system, your property will not lose power when the grid goes down. The system automatically detects a grid outage, isolates from the utility network, and continues providing power from stored battery energy with no manual intervention.

Systems can be configured to protect critical loads only (refrigeration, communications, lighting, security) or to provide whole-property backup, depending on battery capacity and energy requirements. Loads that can be backed up include refrigeration and freezers, WIFI and security systems, lighting, pumps and water systems, and office equipment and guest services. When the grid is restored, the system reconnects automatically. If the battery depletes during an extended outage, a generator can be integrated to maintain power continuity.

  • Yes, Renu Energy specialises in resilient energy systems for remote and island environments. These projects typically combine solar generation, battery storage, generator integration, and remote monitoring into a complete hybrid solar microgrid. Systems are designed to operate reliably in challenging conditions—high humidity, saltwater exposure, limited access for maintenance—while maximising renewable generation and minimising fuel dependence. We have delivered island and remote energy solutions at Ambergris Cay, Cordial Cay, and other private island properties across the Caribbean.

  • Smart EV charging systems optimise charging based on available solar production and current property energy usage, maximising the use of onsite solar before drawing from the grid. In TCI's zero-export environment, EV batteries can also serve as an additional energy reservoir, absorbing excess solar that would otherwise be curtailed. Advanced systems support intelligent energy management, dynamic load balancing, remote monitoring and control, and future vehicle-to-home capabilities, enabling the EV to give energy back to the property when needed.

  • Yes, many of our systems are designed as hybrid energy solutions, combining solar, battery storage, backup generators, and utility power into a unified, intelligently managed energy system. This hybrid approach is especially valuable in island and remote-grid environments, where reliability is limited and fuel costs are high. Solar and batteries handle most of the energy demand; the generator provides a reliable backstop during extended low-generation periods or unusually high loads.

  • Renu Energy supports utilities and large-scale energy clients — including public utilities such as Pelican Energy — with advanced renewable energy and storage solutions designed to improve grid resilience, operational efficiency, and renewable energy integration. Solutions may include utility-scale solar integration, battery energy storage systems (BESS), microgrids, and remote monitoring infrastructure. Renu Energy has delivered utility-scale projects under TCI's Utility Owned Renewable Energy (UORE) programme, including the 420 kW installation at Salterra Resort.

  • Energy independence means generating and managing more of your own energy, rather than relying entirely on utility providers or fuel deliveries. For property owners in TCI and the wider Caribbean, this translates to greater control over energy costs, protection against utility rate increases and fuel price volatility, improved resilience against grid outages and severe weather, and long-term predictability in energy planning and budgeting. Solar and battery systems are the most effective path to energy independence for residential, commercial, and island clients across the region.

  • Yes, most systems can be expanded over time as energy usage grows or operational needs change — whether adding more solar panels, increasing battery capacity, integrating EV charging, or upgrading to a full microgrid. Modular battery systems such as the Tesla Powerwall make scaling straightforward, allowing additional units to be added without replacing the existing installation. This flexibility is especially valuable for businesses, resorts, utilities, and developing properties planning for future growth.
